Institutional Compliance

The Division of Institutional Accessibility provides strategic leadership to ensure UT Southwestern's  programs and services are accessible to individuals with disabilities. As part of this charge, the Division of Institutional Accessibility oversees efforts to ensure equitable access and full participation for individuals with disabilities in all UT Southwestern's programs and services. In its work to support UT Southwestern's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related federal and state laws, the Division of Institutional Accessibility works closely with units on initiatives throughout UT Southwestern.

Accessibility at UT Southwestern

Inclusive hiring
Our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. One of the ways we fulfill this ambition is through an unwavering commitment to a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture.
Employee community
We strive to build and enable the future of disability inclusion with our annual employee conference, the Microsoft Ability Summit, and numerous Employee Resource Groups for people with disabilities and allies.
Training
Team-centric and company-wide training is offered to all employees. Topics such as disability education, etiquette, and inclusive best practices are just part of our training efforts.
Accommodations
Our employees have access to support navigating their UT Southwestern benefits, health and wellness programs, ASL interpreters, and reasonable accommodations for medical needs or disabilities—which may include modified work schedules, assistive technology, and assistance when travelling.
Be included, Self Identify
The institution is committed to supporting individuals with disabilities. Effectively supporting these groups starts with you.
If you have never disclosed your status, or don’t recall how you might have responded at the time of hire, that’s okay. It’s easy to verify. Just log in to employee self-service (requires VPN) and update the form.
Outreach
As part of our effort to reduce barriers for students, employees and staff with disabilities, UTSW is engaged in outreach to students, faculty, and staff on campus. In order to reach the larger UTSW community, D&A participates in tabling events, conducts trainings, and hosts events in order to raise awareness and reduce stigma relating to disabilities and accommodations.

Accessibility is built into who we are.

This video, played during OIEA's Division of Diversity & Inclusion's first annual Business Resource Group Appreciation Reception & Keystone Award Ceremony, captures the programmatic and engagement highlights for UT Southwestern's six employee Business Resource Groups in 2021-2022.

Our Business Resource Group members and leaders design and provide multiple opportunities for professional development, career exploration, networking, mentoring, leadership, advocacy and community service.
